UPDATE 7:30 P.M. below: Worth County E-911 contacted Phoebe Worth EMS to respond to 5101 Hwy 133 around 5 P.M. tonight (Thursday) where a one vehicle crash had been reported. The 911 dispatcher informed medics en route that the wrecked vehicle had been in a police chase with Worth County Deputies before it apparently left the roadway and overturned, finally resting in a ditch.

While en route however, E-911 quickly informed medics they needed to stay back from the scene area as it was not safe. At least one of the subjects was armed and posing a threat to deputies, which Sheriff Hobby later confirmed. The male was outside of the vehicle and the female was inside of the car. Within two minutes, E-911 dispatched to the ambulance to notify medics the scene was clear and there were two patients, with gun shot wound(s) to at least one subject reported.

Worth County Coroner Johnny Johnson was then called to the scene. Sheriff Hobby confirmed the female originally inside of the car was the fatality but would not confirm a victim of gun shot wounds in the incident.

Traffic was operated within one lane as officials continued to investigate at the scene. We will update details as they are released by officials this evening. This is reportedly the second wreck within the past few weeks as a result of a police chase in the county. See photos below:

UPDATE 7:30 P.M. Thursday: No new information has actually been released from officials as GBI agents are now assuming investigations. Apparently it was police related gunfire that contributed to the female fatality. As she was getting out of the crashed vehicle, she reportedly aimed a firearm at an officer(s) who shot at the female. We also learned the duo leading police on the chase, which began on the west side of Hwy 82 outside of city limits, are reportedly from Alabama.

UPDATE Friday:

Worth Coroner Johnny Johnson released the identity of the female fatality as Crystal Lee Miley Harry, 34, of Alabama. She sustained what appears to be one shot to the chest area. She also had substantial damage to her left arm that could have been a result from the crash. Harry’s body was sent to the crime lab in Macon Friday for further observation and to verify if the gunshot wound was cause of death.

The male subject and driver of the car was Phillip Randolph Kelly, 37, of Sylacauga, Alabama. He is facing a number of felony charges as GBI investigations continue.
