UPDATE Friday : A wreck involving a tractor this morning sends a Worth County man to the hospital. See story below:
At 8:34 A.M. this morning Worth emergency units were en route to Hwy 300 in Warwick where a Chevy Silverado struck the back of a tractor on the highway headed towards Dougherty County.
The impact ejected the tractor driver who reportedly suffered a head injury. The driver of the truck exhibiting the business name Strategic Industries said his airbag deployed and he suffered only a busted lip. He stated he did not see the tractor on the roadway until it was too late.
Mr. A.W. Gill, around 60 years of age, is well known in the Oakfield/Warwick area where he has farmed for many years. His wife, Carole, works only a few miles from the accident scene at Stripling’s. Co-workers were on scene with Carole before she went to Phoebe Putney where Mr. Gill was transported. At the time of this post there was no update available regarding Mr. Gill’s condition but we will update as information is available.
3:45 p.m.Thursday – GSP Cpl. McKenzie reports Gill’s condition as stable. Georgia State Patrol continues its is investigation of the crash incident and a charge for following too closely is likely pending for Silverado driver Brian Weirich of Warner Robins.
FRIDAY: Mr. Gill suffered several injuries and will undergo a second operation Friday due to elbow injury. Gill remains in ICU in stable condition. A source informs us despite the number of injuries sustained, Gill should have a successful recovery.
