Thursday night was an exceptional night for Rams athletes and fans alike. Baseball Varsity Rams won opening night and Soccer Head Coach Colby Simpson’s teams celebrate a win- win. This and more below:
Boys Varsity Soccer 3 – 0
Worth Rams soccer were guests to the Monroe Tornadoes Thursday night with both boys and girls Rams teams coming home with a big region win. Boys pulled off a 10 – 0 shut-out win while girls won 7 – 1. This comes after two prior shut-out wins for varsity boys; Crisp (3- 0) and Valdosta (2 – 0).
In Region 1-AAAA, Worth boys are at 2 – 0 and girls are now 1 – 1. Rams are scheduled to face A-S Panthers for the first time this season on February 26th at Milt Miller field in Sylvester beginning 5;30 P.M.
Rams baseball played their season opener Thursday night at home against 1B-AA Fitzgerald Purple Hurricanes.
Within the 1st inning, Rams led the Canes 3- 0 with two runs courtesy of Sophomore Denzel Gowdy who homered over left field also sending in Jonathan Cirullo for one of five total Rams RBI’s.
Rams held their lead and at the top of the 3rd, Fitzgerald put a run on the scoreboard. Worth answered 4th inning however putting another three runs up, leading 6 – 1.
Eli Reddell shared the mound with pitcher Jake Jones, throwing seven out of their combined 11 strike-outs in the game. According to Head Coach Will Smith, Reddell is averaging 80 mph speed on his pitch.
Rams earned another run in the 6th inning answered by a Canes run top of 7th, but Worth would hold Fitzgerald there taking the win 7 – 3.
Worth will play 1B-AA Berrien Rebels on February 26th at Pope Park in Sylvester beginning 6 P.M.
Worth County Rams Track and Field
The Rams will be participating in the Blue Devil Invitational on March 2nd at Tift County High School beginning 4 P.M.
