Toddler Struck by Vehicle
A three-year old female is reportedly doing well after a vehicle backed into her yesterday (Tuesday) in the Fred’s store parking lot. A 71-year old woman was attempting to back her vehicle up to leave the store, according to police, when the toddler ran behind the moving vehicle. No serious injuries are reported in the incident ruled accidental and no charges are filed.
Subject Sought in Burglary Investigation
Poulan Police are searching for Rasheem Wheeler, 29, of Poulan due to his suspected involvement in a burglary incident currently under PPD investigation.
PPD Chief Larry Whisenant said his department had recently increased patrolling on the south end of the city due to a vacated home apparently a target of burglary.
During a recent patrol in the vicinity, Chief Whisenant said he spotted a suspicious truck parked beside the home. Upon an inside search with another officer footprints were discovered but no one was located in the home. According to the Chief, the vehicle was still warm to the touch confirming the vehicle was recently parked.
As the officers continued search, a subject walked up on the property with a bucket of water stating to police his vehicle overheated. While questioning Jamall Williams, 18, and further investigating, police learned Williams’ footprints matched those inside the home and that Rasheem Wheeler, 29, was also involved in entering the home.
Chief Whisenant said Wheeler has a long history of theft and is suspect to burglary of the home. If you have information on the whereabouts of Rasheem Wheeler, pictured (left) below with Williams, please contact the Poulan Police Department (229) 776-4096 or the Worth County Sheriff’s Office (229) 776-8211.
